ZOLL's AED Plus® is now in full compliance with American Heart Association 2010 Guidelines and European Resuscitation 2010 Guidelines.
An AED Fully Compliant with American Heart Association 2010 Guidelines
ZOLL's AED Plus now fully complies with the American Heart Association's 2010 Guidelines for Emergency Cardiac Care. The most important change in these Guidelines, issued in October 2010, is the recommendation for chest compressions that are at least two inches deep. Previous Guidelines had called for chest compressions between 1½ and 2 inches deep, but recent research has shown significant improvement in survival among cardiac arrest victims who receive compressions at least two inches deep.
Real CPR Help® in the AED Plus now guides the rescuer to perform chest compressions that are at least 2 inches deep at a rate of 100 per minute. If chest compressions fall short of 2 inches, the AED Plus will prompt the rescuer to "PUSH HARDER" and will only say "GOOD COMPRESSIONS" after compressions reach at least two inches.
Real-time feedback from the bar gauge on the screen display also shows when compressions have reached at least two inches.
The circle of graphic icons on the face of the AED Plus has been simplified as well to comply with the AHA's new recommendation that rescuers should no longer open the airway, check breathing, and give two breaths prior to the first heart analysis.
Knowledge is Power
With the AED Plus, rescuers don't have to guess the depth of their chest compressions. They will know when their compressions are reaching the newly-recommended depth of at least two inches.
What good is an AED that only works half the time?

Now fully 2010 Guidelines-compliant!
When a cardiac arrest occurs, the fact is that only half of the victims will need a shock. But nearly all will require cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
You deserve an automated external defibrillator (AED) that helps you all the time. And, only one AED can actually see when you are doing CPR and help you do it well. You need more than just commands, without assistance. That's not smart, and it's certainly not help.
ZOLL's AED Plus® features Real CPR Help®, a CPR feedback tool that is able to actually see what you are doing and provide feedback to help you do it well. Audio and visual prompts help you rescue with confidence and clarity unmatched by any other automated external defibrillator (AED).
CPR Feedback
ZOLL believes AEDs should not just deliver a shock. They should also help the rescuer provide high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). That's why you need ZOLL AEDs, the AED Plus with Real CPR Help.

Upgrade Your AED Plus to make it fully compliant with AHA or ERC 2010 Guidelines
The latest AED Plus Software (v6.24) fully complies with the 2010 Guidelines. Real CPR help will now guide chest compressions to a depth of at least two inches (for the American Heart Association) or between five and six centimeters deep (for the European Resuscitation Council).
Any AED Plus, no matter how old, can now be upgraded to v6.24. For further information about how to order complete upgrade services, contact your ZOLL Sales Representative or your Authorized ZOLL Distributor.
What It Takes
You need to have ZOLL Administrative Software (ZAS) v6.24 installed on your PC, and you will need an infrared port (IrDA device) to communicate with your AED Plus. With ZAS and an IrDA port you can easily upgrade the software in any AED Plus to v6.24.
For the ERC 2010 Guidelines that's all you need to do – upgrade the software.
For the AHA 2010 Guidelines, after upgrading your AED Plus software, you may want to apply two peel-off-stick-on labels to the faceplate of your AED Plus to cover up the two icons that are no longer used in the AHA protocol. Note: Applying these labels is optional. Your AED Plus will perform perfectly well without these labels.
If you apply the labels, the face of your AHA 2010 Guidelines-compliant AED Plus will look like this:
To get started:
Download v6.24 Upgrade Software after providing a valid serial number from an AED Plus.
Purchase ZAS v6.24 Software, or AHA stick-on labels, or an IrDA infrared port. Please contact BERRN Consulting Ltd for details.
After upgrading your AED Plus:
You must register your upgrade with ZOLL to preserve your warranty and make certain you receive notification of any Device Corrective Actions that may occur in the future.
